Finding Books

When browsing the library catalog, it is a good idea to try out different word combinations, i.e. keywords, phrases or subject keywords. Here are helpful tips to search the library catalog.

Keyword Search - use when getting started and you only have broad concepts or terms.

(Ex. Islamic Empire)

Author or Title Search - use when you know the author or title of a book

(Ex. The Muslim world 1100-1700 : early sources on Middle East history, geography and travel)

Subject Search - use to find very specific results based on the subject words.

(Ex. Religious life -- Islam -- History)

Call No. Search - use when you have a call number or want to view a call number range.

(Ex.  KMC145.W64 T83 1998)
