Using Google Sites is an important aspect of the class. To help you get started, please see the following steps as a sample workflow for the project.

Sample Research and Google Sites Workflow

1. Selecting a Topic and Research
   • Choose a topic - example: Afro-centrism in Hip-Hop and African-American Popular Culture in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
   • Research the topic - use reference resources: Afro-centrism from Credo Reference, Afrocentrism from Music Online: African American Music Reference, and Oxford African-American Studies Center.
   • Look for books or articles on the topic - use Google Scholar to explore books and articles for Afrocentrism and Hip-Hop.
2. Develop a Structured Outline & Explore Multimedia Content
   • Historical Foundations - black nationalism, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Négritude, Pan-Africanism, Kwanza celebration.
   • Translation of Afro-centrism into music - Queen Latifah, Arrested Development, Brand Nubian, Jungle Brothers (audio)
   • Translation of Afro-centrism into TV and Film - A Different World - intro, Fresh Prince of Bel Air
   • Translation of Afro-centrism into fashion - Hip Hop Artists, Solo Artists, Fashion Website.
3. Login to the Google Workspace and navigate to Google Sites
   • Create a site for your E-Portfolio
   • Add text, images, audio files, and/or video (via YouTube or file)
4. Finalize your project
   • Edit content as needed
   • Add citations and bibliography section
