Getting Started

Encyclopedias are a good place to start your research. If you are unfamiliar with a topic they can offer a broad overview and help with the identification of keywords and phrases to help you search databases and other search engines.

In PHIL099 you are asked to research the debate. You will need to demonstrate through research your knowledge of differing viewpoints and to clearly defend your own position.

To reduce the risk of researching facts rather than debate it is best to use specialist encyclopedias rather than general encyclopedias such as Encyclopedia Britannica and Wikipedia.
